Scholar Checklist

1.) Please review the Scholar Research Seminar schedule for Spring 2008 to see when you will be presenting your clinical research. If there is a conflict with the date/time you have been assigned, you may make special arrangements with one of your colleagues to switch. If you switch, please let Kate Kruse know - kkruse@im.wustl.edu, 454-8960, Campus Box 8051. You will need to sign in and attend at least 75% of the Scholar Research Seminars, Tuesdays from 1:00 - 3:00 pm in the Clinical Research Training Center (unless another location is indicated) in order to receive academic credit.

2.) If you are interested in meeting again with Phil Miller for a biostatistical consultation in spring 2008, please contact his assistant, Robin Woltman at 362-1318 or robinw@wustl.edu to set up an appointment. This is optional and not required.

3.) For those scholars who are not graduating in May 2008, your next Research Progress Form is due May 1st. For those scholar who are graduating in May 2008, your Thesis Approval Form is due May 1st. You cannot receive your degree without your thesis being approved first.

4.) If you haven't already done so, please complete and submit your Spring 2008 course registration form to Julie Follman - follman@wustl.edu, 454-8540, Campus Box 8051. For elective coursework at Washington University, you will first need approval from Brad Evanoff - bevanoff@wustl.edu, 454-8638, Campus Box 8005. Please send him and Julie the course name and number, semester you wish to take it, instructor name, number of credit units and tuition charge, and verify that you will be able to enroll.

5.) If you are interested in taking elective coursework at St. Louis University School of Public Health, a) determine a class you are interested in taking - http://publichealth.slu.edu.  If youhave questions regarding course material or other logistics, contact Nancy Murphy, Director of Student Services, SLU School of Public Health - nmurphy1@slu.edu, 977-8141. b) Send Brad and Julie the course name and number, semester you wish to take it, instructor name, number of credit units and tuition charge. c) Upon obtaining approval, if you are a new student at SLU, you will need to fill out an Unclassified Application for Admission and submit it to Julie. You can waive the $10 fee by writing "fee waived per Bernie Backer" on the form, and you may submit photocopies of your graduate school transcript (as opposed to official transcript). d.) Upon acceptance, The Graduate School at SLU takes a week to process and approve unclassified applications. Once you are approved, Julie will send you your approval along with your SLU Student ID#. She will also have you sign a Request for Tuition Assistance form and register you for your class.

You will not need to get a picture ID at SLU. Instead, you may show security at the front desk another form of identification as they will be made aware of your student status before your course begins. Parking is available in the visitor lot on the corner of Lafayette and Grand. The entrance is on Lafayette. When you enter the School of Public Health, you will need to purchase a $3 token at the front desk to later exit the parking lot. You may also opt for a nearby parking meter.
